Top Ten Gym Pet Peeves

I’ve worked in the fitness industry for over 18 years, and playing gym junkie for just as long if not longer than that. In all my years of teaching, training, coaching and partaking I’ve collected some keen observations and pretty strong opinions- SURPRISE on the opinion part :-)


I value all of my training, certifications, college education and knowledge I’ve gathered through the years and believe it makes me the opinionated, passionate, creative and honest fitness professional that you’ve grown to love (or hate). Needless to say, I will share my thoughts at the drop of a hat, be blunt when I need to, but always have my heart and soul behind the message.

My message today is inspired by my fellow gym goers and people I’ve interacted with over the years as a fit pro. Hang on for a large dose of sarcasm, brutal honesty and of course this trainer’s educated opinion- it’s RIGHT by the way :-)



My Top Ten Gym Pet Peeves:


1. People who wear sunglasses while they workout inside- I tweeted about this a few days back,  but it deserves another mention. Nobody is that cool!! Famous or not, you look like a freaking idiot and it is rude and disrespectful. Unless your blind or coming from the eye doctor spare us your ego!

Sports Does a Body Good

  • Reminded us the hot bodies that can be developed from sport activities.
  • And how much we like Brazilian soccer.

Live By Guide 2010

Above all the below, we add - Spend more time NUDE!


Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.

2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured (processed)
4. Live with the 3 E’s — Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009 .
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10.Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.


Personality:
11. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive

13. Don’t over do. Keep your limits. (I suggest continually test/push your limits)
14. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.. Don’t hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.  Problems (Challenges) are simply part of the curriculum
that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree…


Society:
25.    Call your family often.
26.    Each day give something good to others.
27.    Forgive everyone for everything..
28.    Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of  6.
29.    Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30.    What other people think of you is none of your business.
31.    Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.


Life:
32.    Do the right thing!
33.    Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
34.    GOD heals everything.
35.    However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36.    No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37.    The best is yet to come..
38.    When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39..    Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

This one's easy...  Not as easy as a magic pill that we all want so much, but this menu planning tool is as close as it gets in following a safe scientifically based program.

So here's the tip for you to get the most out of it.
  1. Evaluate your current diet - for the first 5-7 days just track and enter your current eating and drinking habits.  Be honest and get a good look at what you are consuming.  Take a hard look at what is putting your sexy body in it's current state of being.
  2. Review your "grade" and learn from the reports as to what you are nutritionally missing and where you may be over consuming.
  3. After that first reality check week, I want you to jump into the previously prepared meal plans.  Those meal plans all have excellent nutrition grades and only the ones that fit your personal activity level and needs will be presented to you.... Learn from eating right.  Benefit from following these as written.
  4. With 1-2 months of well graded meal plans followed and learned from, give it another try to see if you can again manage appropriately your nutrient intake... If not, just go back to more of the prepared meal plans as there are thousands to choose from. If so, good for you! You'll soon be re-introduced to the sexy nude you.
